Connessioni 2023 - State of the EU and Youth Participation in European Democratic Process

On the 6th of November 2023, TDM 2000 International will host “Connessioni”, a conference on the State of the European Union and the promotion of youth participation in European democratic processes. The conference will gather 120 young people from all over Europe. Among them there are experts, youth workers, and young local administrators, all committed to contribute to in-depth discussions surrounding the State of the European Union and the imperative promotion of youth engagement in European democratic processes. Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will be present to deliberate on their vision for the future of the Erasmus+ program and to navigate the course of the EU post-next European Elections in light of new political challenges. Besides this conference will also welcome the participation of 14 local Sardinian organisations, underlining the importance of bridging local and international perspectives to craft effective policies. Furthermore, the participants will strategize on methods to bolster the next European elections among their peers. By sharing insights and devising a collective strategy for an impactful promotional campaign, we aim to stimulate the participation of the increasingly skeptical young European demographic in the democratic life of the EU. Consequently, the role of young citizens will be central to ensure a high participation rate in the upcoming 2024 European elections. This initiative is co-funded by the Executive Agency through the Erasmus+ Youth Programme, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Municipality of Cagliari and the Fondazione di Sardegna, and is realised in collaboration with Europe Direct network of the Region of Sardinia and of the Municipality of Salerno. The Conference will be an additional opportunity to promote our project “Changemakers for European Democracy, co-funded by the European Parliament, which aims to promote and strengthen European democracy and citizenship at the continental level, focusing on the active engagement of young people to drive positive changes in European policy through civil society efforts. TDM 2000 International is a network of youth NGOs and member of the European Youth Forum. Since its foundation it has been promoting active citizenship among young people and it has been contributing as much as possible in shaping youth policies at all levels.
