The demonstrations in Belarus continue, and the government in Minsk, even after massive international pressure, is not willing to comply with the demands for a new, free and fair election or even a resignation. How did this come about? What has been the EU’s position in the past and what is the country’s significance for the European Union?
Let’s talk about this with Sebastian Gerhardt, who worked for the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany as an expert on Eastern Europe in Moscow and now uses his knowledge for the Permanent Representation of Germany to the EU.
The event will take place on WebEx, you will get the link upon your registration.
What is MeetEU?
We are a network of volunteers who participated in the European Parliament's #thistimeimvoting and now together.eu campaign. The high voter turnout in the European elections motivated us to stay involved. Why not connect with all these amazing people across Europe? That's why in November 2019 we set up a MeetEU pilot group with people from different European countries to meet on the free online platform Discord. In March 2020 we opened the MeetEU Discord server for all together.eu supporters, in April 2020 for the general public. The initial monthly discussions have now become one event per week. Great, the European exchange of ideas is picking up speed!
