Alexandre Benjamin Navet was born in 1986 in France and graduated from ENSCI–Les Ateliers, École nationale supérieure de création industrielle (Paris) in 2011. His artistic practice is multidisciplinary, ranging from interior and textile design to pastel watercolour drawings and frescoes. Although based in Paris, Alexandre Benjamin Navet maintains a relationship with the South of France that inspires his colourful visual universe of simplified volumes modelled by strong light contrasts and perspectives games. Often in situ, his installations are close to theatrical settings. For designer Pierre Yovanovitch, “Alexandre reinterprets a style from the ’40s and ’50s in a very contemporary but also a very humorous way. His work is reminiscent of Jean Cocteau but with a totally unique approach.”

Investing the Europe  House, Gardens and Landscapes – Carte Blanche to Alexandre Benjamin Navet comes as a desire to escape from the frame, to breathe some fresh air in the heart of the city. The ornamentation of columns and decorative panels draws a singular and harmonious perception of the space, directly engaging the visitor’s imagination. For the occasion, two large-size paintings have been produced to create a dialogue and an encounter between Paris and London through the theme of the gardens. After months of lockdown, Alexandre Benjamin Navet reinvents the tradition of landscape painting through a vibrant stroke on a large-scale wallpaper. His drawings echo the shapes of Henri Matisse and the compositions of David Hockney. The thriving colours evoke the delight of being reunited and open bright perspectives for the future.
